IMOP is a nonprofit organization and its membership is comprised of specialist physicians and physician trainees who are practicing Internal Medicine in Fiji and the Pacific Region.

Our vision is to become the premier advocate and conduit for best medical practice in Pacific Island countries.
Mission
Our mission is to advance and promote cascade-based practice, medical education and training, services, and research in the field of internal medicine and enhance healthy Pacific Island communities.
Pillars to Achieve Vision

SCREENING AND EARLY DIAGNOSIS – advocate screening and early detection of medical conditions to improve morbidity and mortality.

TREATMENT – foster the highest standard of medical care. Acute, Chronic, Palliative, and Rehabilitation Management Protocols/ Guidelines in resource-limited areas.

PREVENTION – advocacy/education on preventable diseases.

EARLY IDENTIFICATION of RISK AREAS – Burden of Disease/ Geographical risks/ Behavioural modification/Health Promotion.

RESOURCE IMPROVEMENT – Human Resources (postgraduate training, CME, In-country mentoring, short courses) Advance internal medicine specialized services in Pacific Island communities.

Full Membership
Is open to Physicians who reside and practice in Pacific Island Nations; and who
1. Hold a Master of Medicine, Fellow of Australasian College of Physicians, Member Royal College of Physicians or the equivalent thereof; and
2. Are engaged in the practice of Internal Medicine.
Full Membership – $300.00 FJD
Associate Membership
Is available for
1. Physicians in Pacific Island Nations who have retired from clinical practice; or
2. Internal Medicine Trainees in Pacific Island Nations; or
3. Doctors who are practicing Internal Medicine in Pacific Island Nations and Territories that do not fulfill criteria for full membership.
Associate Membership – $100.00 FJD
Corresponding Membership
Is open to Health Professionals who permanently reside outside of the Pacific Island Nations and Territories and have an interest in internal medicine in the Pacific Region.
Corresponding Memberships – $150.00 FJD
Life Membership
Is for Physicians who have contributed significantly to IMOP and who are approved by the Executive Committee to become life members
